New Testament Week 1

Jesus is Our Friend

This is our introductory New Testament CLAMbake Sunday School lesson in more ways than one. First, we introduce ourselves to the kids, then the kids to CLAMbake. Most of all, we introduce Jesus as the best friend a person could ever have!

PLEASE NOTE: This page is a draft test page for you to have an example to look at. The top two videos below do not yet exist!

Here is a fun challenge to use at the very beginning of class

For lesson 1nt have the kids try to guess the word "friend" as explained in the video. You'll need to prepare about a half dozen hints. Here are our suggestions: 1. People like to have bananas; 2. Bananas come in all shapes and sizes; 3. Some people have bananas that last forever; 4. It's very sad when a good banana moves away; 5. Bananas like to do things together; 6. Who is your best banana?

If you intend to text or email  the link to this webpage to your Sunday School teachers and assistants, here is a convenient description of the lesson and the link to copy and paste into the body of your message:

Today’s lesson kicks off a full year of New Testament stories. This Sunday you are welcoming new students and those returning into your classroom—good reasons to have a bit of a party. But the best reason to celebrate is Jesus’ great love for us! Jesus is our King and Lord, not our friend in a "buddy buddy casual" sense. Yet our King and Lord is the best friend we could ever have. Jesus said, "You are my friends if you do what I command." John 15:14. One key goal this year is for our learners to realize that Jesus isn't someone far away who can't be experienced now--He is closer than any friend!

And be sure to include the following information: Which age-level applies; is the recipient intended to print out the lesson materials and/or set up the room; date and expected time of arrival in class.

We highly recommend sending your message two weeks in advance. Printing should also be done two weeks in advance to avoid the "Oh, no! The printer needs a service call and class starts in an hour!" syndrome :)

This lesson and all else here at Christ's Love and Majesty Ministries is supported wholly by the generous donations of people like yourself. Thank you!
